It's Good to Be Back.

Like the title says, it really is good to be back. I’ve been on a bit of a website/social media hiatus lately, and for no good reason. In fact, things have been really great, just haven’t been sharing like I should. That being said, there has been a LOT going on.

To start, in January I bought my house. Ever since then, just about every weekend has been either a home update project or a weekend of working in effort to save money for future plans. There have only been a couple weekends of freedom from it all, but it’s been a great start to 2019 anyway.

I recently made a trip down a bit of the Oregon Coast, one of my favorite places of all time. It was the destination for Kaylee’s birthday and—as usual—it did not disappoint. We stayed in Cannon Beach and made it a point to get to know the town and a bit of the surrounding areas. The icon of Cannon Beach is Haystack Rock, but the town is full of personality behind its pretty face. I myself overlooked its interesting history until this trip when I decided to research more of the story. Heck, even Haystack Rock’s history is incredible! Between the geologic history of its formation and how it was formed by man over the last few decades, it added that much more significance to the stack.

Besides a day trip to the Tillamook Creamery (highly recommend if you’re a cheesehead), most of our time was spent driving the coast, beach combing and exploring the restaurants and bars. The best oyster shooters I’ve ever had were in Cannon Beach Hardware and Public House. Weird, right? Wrong! It felt like we were part of the neighborhood. And how cool is it that you can have drinks, food, and buy those screws you forgot you needed all in one place? That’s what I call convenience. Seeing as how we were celebrating, there are a few other places I would highly recommend. I’ll include links at the bottom to my other favorite eateries from the trip.

Last week I partnered with Evergreen Home Loans to put on a Headshot Happy Hour. Local members of the Chamber of Commerce, real estate and mortgage industries were invited to socialize over drinks and hoeur d'oeuvres with the option to get an updated headshot. It was great getting to know more of the community while being able to give back some of my time. I never thought I’d get into corporate photography like this, but it’s actually really fun and I’m looking forward to more.

2019 is looking good. Not only for my photography, but also for my personal life and home. I will continue to push my limits and keep trying new things. All opportunities are welcome, and I’m stoked for more to come my way.
